Why Paper Beats Foil and Plastic Wrap
Foil and cling film combinations were never designed with presentation in mind. They trap steam unevenly, leave food soggy or wobbly by the time it reaches the customer and give you zero room to put your logo in front of anyone. Custom food paper with logo solves all three problems at once:
Concern | Foil + Cling Film | Custom Food Paper |
Grease control | Leaks and pools | Coated barrier locks grease in |
Texture on arrival | Soggy and condensation heavy | Breathable that stays warm without going limp |
Branding opportunity | None | Full color logos, patterns and messaging |
Recyclability | Difficult (mixed materials) | Recyclable and compostable options available |
Unwrapping experience | Fiddly and tears unevenly | Folds and opens cleanly |
Types of Food Wrapping Paper We Offer
We know every food business has different packaging needs that is why we offer a range of custom food safe printed wrapping papers that are designed for specific purposes. Here is a detailed breakdown of our most popular options:
Wax Paper
Wax paper has a coating of wax on one or both sides. This forms a moisture barrier which stops the food from adhering to the paper and getting damp. For this reason, wax paper is suitable for wrapping both hot and cold foods. It is typically coated with soy wax, paraffin wax or beeswax that depends on the sustainability preference of the business. It has less resistance to liquid penetration over time, an acidic pH level and low temperature resistance that's why it is best kept away from direct heat or ovens.
Kraft Paper
Kraft paper stands out as the most eco friendly food wrapping option in the market. It is made from natural wood pulp and available in both coated and uncoated finishes that depends on the level of moisture or grease resistance needed. It is a favorite among butchers and meat businesses. It is ideal for wrapping bacon, brisket, fish, chicken, beef and other proteins. It contains no chemical additives that make it a clean and more natural option. It offers medium sizing, a neutral pH level and high temperature resistance that makes it durable enough for smoking, grilling adjacent use and general food handling.
Freezer Paper
Freezer paper is engineered to block air from passing through its surface which is the key to prevent freezer burn and preserve food quality over long storage periods. It is especially useful for households and businesses that need to store meat in the refrigerator or freezer for extended durations. It is PE (polyethylene) coated that gives it a strong moisture and air barrier. It has high sizing, a neutral pH level and high temperature resistance that makes it reliable for both cold storage and occasional heat exposure during reheating.
Parchment Paper
Parchment paper is one of the commonly used papers in the kitchen for various applications including cooking and baking. It is coated with silicone and undergoes treatment with sulphuric and phosphoric acid when it is being made, and hence it gets its non stick and heat resistant nature. This paper product has medium sizing, neutral pH value and high heat resistance that make it secure to be used in ovens and baking without any tearing and toxic chemicals.
Greaseproof Paper
Greaseproof paper is especially developed in such a way that it does not allow oil, grease and food juices to pass through and stain the wrapping material. It is generally used as a liner material in fry baskets, pastry boxes and takeaway containers. It is PE coated that gives it a low sizing but a neutral pH level and medium temperature resistance that makes it a practical and cost effective option for everyday food service use.
Manufacturing Process of Custom Food Wrap Paper
Most packaging brands buy finished rolls from third party mills and simply print on top. We do it differently. Every sheet of food wrap that leaves our facility in Houston and Texas is made in house from start to finish and inside our own production plant. Our custom printed food wrapping paper is manufactured to ISO 9001 quality standards and ISO 22000 food safety protocols from the very first step. Here is what actually happens behind the scenes before a roll of custom-printed wrap ever reaches a kitchen.
Step 1: Turning Wood Into Fiber
Everything begins with timber that is a mix of hardwood and softwood sourced from FSC certified forests so the raw material itself is harvested responsibly. That wood is broken down mechanically to pull out its cellulose fibers which are then cooked into a pulp slurry. The chemical process makes the fibers strong prior to the purification process which will wash away all chemicals left from the mixture. At that point, the pulp then passes between the rollers which get heated up and squeeze out the water from it.
Step 2: Choose the Right Barrier Coating
Raw paper alone would not hold up against oil, steam or heat that is where coating comes in. We match the coating to how the wrap will actually be used:
- Wax coated paper works well for low grease foods including thick burgers, sandwiches or shawarma that offer solid grease and moisture protection with mild heat tolerance.
- Silicone coated paper takes things even further by being resistant to high temperatures in addition to grease and moisture resistance that make it a first choice material for cooking and oven applications.
- PE (polyethylene) coated paper is high resistant to oil, grease and moisture and is used in applications like lining, wrapping and cold storage.
Step 3: Fine Tuning With Additives
Once coated, the paper gets a second round of treatment to refine its look and function:
- Brands that want a rustic and natural look often go with unbleached kraft paper, while those who are chasing a specific brand color use our bleaching process which opens the door to shades ranging from pure white to solid black.
- We can also apply anti microbial treatments that help guard packaged food against bacterial growth.
Step 4: Printing Your Design
Branding happens with food grade inks including soy, vegetable or water based that are compatible with both CMYK and PMS color systems. We print using following printing methods that depends on your order volume and design complexity:
- Flexographic printing which uses flexible plates and quick drying ink is best suited to high volume runs.
- Gravure printing where the artwork is etched onto a cylinder and delivers sharp or more detailed results.
Step 5: Cutting It Down to Size
Every order is delivered as either:
- Pre cut wrap sheets
- Food wrap paper rolls
The finish may be chosen as matte or glossy and each batch is subjected to final testing prior to packing and shipping. The popular sizes include:
4" x 4" | 5" x 5" | 6" x 5" |
7" x 5" | 7" x 7" | 8" x 5" |
8" x 8" | 8.5" x 11" | 9" x 5" |
